The GOI has a policy for grant of License to eligible organisations for setting up of Community Radio Stations. To support the Sector, the Scheme provides financial assistance once the Community Radio is made operational by eligible organisation. The Scheme also has components for capacity building.

About This Scheme

The scheme “Supporting Community Radio Movement in India” aims to strengthen new and existing Community Radio Stations (CRS) across the country. It supports CRS with resources, technology, and capacity building to improve community broadcasting services, especially in rural, remote, coastal, disaster-prone, North-Eastern, and aspirational areas. The scheme also promotes awareness through workshops and training programmes to encourage more organizations to establish CRS. It focuses on enhancing socio-economic and cultural development by giving local communities a platform to share information and voices.

Benefits

  • Grant Support For Community Radio Stations: Financial assistance for setting up new Community Radio Stations (CRSs), renewal or replacement of equipment for existing CRSs, and emergency support grants.
  • Capacity Building And Awareness Programmes: Training and awareness workshops for operational CRSs and Letter of Intent (LOI) holders through webinars conducted regularly.
  • Regional Sammelans: Organization of regional-level meetings and interaction programmes to promote coordination and knowledge sharing among Community Radio Stations.
  • Publication Of CRS Compendium: Preparation and publication of an annual compendium containing information and achievements of Community Radio Stations.
  • National Community Radio Awards: Presentation of National Community Radio Awards to recognize outstanding performance and innovative initiatives.
  • Studies And Research Activities: Conducting studies to assess the reach, impact, and effectiveness of Community Radio Stations.
  • Support For Content Creation: Assistance for developing quality and community-focused radio content.
  • Capacity Building Through IIMC: Training and skill development support through the Community Media Empowerment Centre at Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC).
  • Online Portal And Content Sharing Platform: Development of an online platform for information sharing, resource access, and content exchange among Community Radio Stations.

Required Documents

  • Copy of the registration certificate. (If the registration certificate is in languages other than Hindi/English, kindly provide translation in Hindi/English)
  • Copy of the memorandum of association/ bye laws etc. (If it is in any other language than Hindi/ English, translation in Hindi/English should also be provided)
  • Complete balance sheets with auditor's report for previous 3 years.
  • Map of service area.
  • Profile of organization.
  • Profile of community residing within 10 Km radius of location of CRS.
  • Geo-Coordinates (Latitude and Longitude) of the Location where antenna would be placed.
  • Details of All Governing Body Members of organization in the prescribed format.
  • Processing fee of Rs. 2500/-.

Step 1: On Broadcast Seva website, click or hover to 'Sign In' button on top right.

Step 2: On hovering to or clicking 'Log in' button, two options in a list are displayed. Press down arrow key (PgDn) to select 'Applicant Log In' as highlighted below and click 'Applicant Log In'.

Step 3: Applicant Log In screen as under is displayed. Click 'Sign Up'.

Step 4: Click on 'Sign Up' button, then click on downward arrow on right to view the list of user types.

Step 5: Select 'User Type' from within the list of user types by using up/down arrow keys and enter key or clicking the user type.

Step 6: Provide name of the user and click 'Next' button to proceed with registration.
