About This Scheme

The scheme "Grant In Aid Hostels" was launched in 1969 by the Tribal Development Department, Government of Gujarat. The scheme aims to provide boarding and lodging facilities by government registered organizations to the tribal students who wish to pursue primary, secondary and higher secondary education. the scheme provides free lodging and boarding facilities, addressing the challenge that the Scheduled Tribe population has a lower literacy level due to the absence of secondary and higher secondary schools in tribal areas, causing students to leave studies after getting primary education. The scheme is implemented by Non-Governmental Organizations. the applications for this scheme are accepted at the district level at the office of the concerned Project Administrator/Assistant Commissioner (Vigilance).

Conditions for NGOs

  • The voluntary institution must agree to adhere to the current rules for Backward Class Hostels and any future changes.
  • The voluntary institution must agree to comply with administrative or other instructions received from the Tribal Development Department and the Director, Tribal Development.

  • Organization's Constitution Copy.
  • Organization's Registration Copy.
  • Latest Bank Balance Certificate Original Copy (Must be dated after the date of advertisement and before the last date of application acceptance).
  • List of Office Bearers' Names and Complete Addresses.
  • Copy of the Managing Committee Resolution or General Meeting Resolution Regarding Which Office Bearer of the Institution Will Handle Financial Correspondence.
  • Copy of the Managing Committee Resolution Agreeing to Comply with Current Rules and Future Changes For Backward Class Hostels, and Administrative or Other Instructions from the Tribal Development Department and the Director, Tribal Development.
  • Proposed Site Map Attached (With Full Details).
  • Building Assessment Letter Copy (Assessment Sheet Excerpt from Panchayat Register For Hostel Building).
  • Landlord's Consent Letter (In Case of Rented Building).
  • Property Card Copy (In Case of City Area).
  • Relevant Municipality Assessment Bill Copy (In Case of City Area).
  • Organization's Last Year's Audit Statement Copy.
  • Statement Detailing Other Social Welfare or Educational Activities Run By the Organization (Must Be Mentioned Even If Information Is Nil).
  • Statement Detailing School Facilities At the Proposed Location, Including School Name, Grade Level of Education Provided, and Details of Scheduled Tribe Children Studying There.
  • Details of Other Scheduled Tribe/Other Caste Hostels Run By the Organization (Including Location and Sanctioned Strength).
  • Undertaking Letter to Provide Admission to Ten Percent (10%) Economically Backward Class Students of the Sanctioned Strength In the Proposed Hostel.
  • Certificate with Undertaking Regarding Availability of A Suitable Building Equipped with Complete Facilities, Including Water and Electricity At the Demanded Hostel Location.

How to Apply

IIn-person

Step 1: The representative of the NGO must obtain the prescribed application form from the Office of the concerned Project Administrator/Assistant Commissioner (Vigilance) at the district level by paying ₹10/- in cash.

Step 2: In the form, fill in all the mandatory fields, and attach copies of all the mandatory documents. Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents, to the designated staff at the Office of the concerned Project Administrator/Assistant Commissioner (Vigilance).

Step 3: Submit the application within the prescribed period (generally 30th August of the respective year). The applicant must pay the non-refundable application processing fee of ₹50/- directly at the concerned office where the form was obtained.

Post-Application Process

After the application is successfully considered and accepted (sanctioned), the applicant institution must then pay a non-refundable fee of ₹500/- using a Challan.
