About This Scheme

The FRESH-IT (Farmer's Research & Enterprise in Spice Holdings for Innovative Technology) subcomponent is part of the Integrated Scheme for Export Promotion & Quality Improvement in Spices and Research and Development of Cardamom, implemented by the Spices Board under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The scheme aims to motivate spice farmers to take up innovations and improvements on their farms to develop promising spice varieties and new post-harvest improvement machinery/equipment for the spice farming community of the country at an affordable cost, thereby increasing the production, productivity, and quality of spices. The scheme is being implemented in accordance with the modalities and guidelines approved by the Competent Authority under the Integrated Scheme for Export Promotion & Quality Improvement in Spices and Research and Development of Cardamom during the 15th Finance Commission period (2021–22 to 2025–26).

> Grant-in-aid subject to a maximum of ₹ 7, 50,000/- per innovation in two installments of ₹ 3, 75,000/- in two phases based on the progress / completion of the innovation as recommended by the technical committee constituted for the purpose of evaluating the innovation by the farmer in development of new clones/ cultivars/ variety and machines/ post-harvest improvement equipments developed for improving quality of spices.
