Scheme of Cash Incentive to Medal Winners in International Sports Events and their Coaches

The objective of the scheme is to reward outstanding sportspersons for their achievements at the global level. It aims to simplify eligibility, improve the award process, motivate athletes to achieve higher, and inspire young people to take up sports.

Benefits
For all international events except the Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games, Para-Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games, cash incentives will be paid based on the number of participating countries.<table class="scheme-table"><tr><td>Amount of Incentive</td><td>In a team event </td><td>In an individual event</td></tr><tr><td>Full</td><td>The number of participating countries shall be at least 12 or the maximum permissible number of participants, whichever is lower.</td><td>The number of participating countries shall be at least 16 or the maximum permissible number of participants, whichever is lower. </td></tr><tr><td>Half</td><td>The number of participating countries is in the range of 6 to 11.</td><td>The number of participating countries is in the range of 8 to15.</td></tr><tr><td>One-third</td><td>The number of participating countries shall be between 4 and 5.</td><td>The number of participating countries shall range from 4 to 7.</td></tr></table><p>Note: No cash incentive shall be given if the number of teams in any event is less than 4.</p>

How to Apply
Step 1: The sportsperson must submit the application through the Department of Sports’ designated portal within six months of the event.
Step 2: If all required details are already available, the application submission may be waived.
Step 3: Late applications will not be accepted; no relaxation is allowed for missing the deadline.
Step 4: The achievements of the sportsperson and coaches will be verified by authorised agencies or official databases before approval.
