About This Scheme

IVRI Institute Scholarship for M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. – The Indian Council of Agricultural Research under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare provides this scholarship for students pursuing M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute. The scholarship is admissible only to candidates admitted through a competitive entrance examination for M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. degree programmes. The scholarship for fresh students is awarded by the Joint Director (Academic) on the recommendation of the Standing Committee on Scholarship, Financial Assistance, and Academic Progress, which considers the merit of each applicant based initially on admission performance and subsequently on academic performance at the Institute. Master Programme at IVRI Deemed University The candidates for admission to Master’s programme must have Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science in the concerned discipline as specified below as specified by the Veterinary Council of India with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (55% for SC/ST or sponsored candidates) or equivalent CGPA. Admission for MVSc program will be held on the basis of all India Competitive Examination conducted by the Education Division, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. All the candidates including sponsored (in-service) for seeking admission to MVSc programme must have to appear in the written Examination. For Master Programme

The amount of the scholarship for the Master’s Degree programme is ₹ 7,560/- per month for 2 years with a contingent grant of ₹ 6,000/- per annum for two years

For Doctoral Programme

In the Doctoral programme, it is ₹ 13125/- per month for three years with a contingent grant of ₹ 10000/- per annum for three years.

How to Apply

Step 1: Apply for Entrance Examination

  1. Candidates seeking admission to the M.V.Sc. programme must apply for the All India Competitive Examination conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.
  2. Candidates applying for the Ph.D. programme must submit an application form through the Indian Veterinary Research Institute website after the admission advertisement is released.
  3. Applicants must carefully select the subject for the entrance examination and submit the application before the prescribed last date.

Step 2: Appear in the Entrance Examination

  1. Eligible candidates must appear in the competitive written entrance examination conducted on an All India basis.
  2. The examination consists of multiple-choice questions and is conducted in English only.
  3. Ph.D. entrance examinations are conducted at various IVRI campuses and regional stations, including Bareilly, Bangalore, Bhopal, Kolkata, and Palampur.

Step 3: Merit List, Counseling, and Admission

  1. Admission is granted on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance examination and fulfillment of minimum qualifying marks.
  2. For the M.V.Sc. programme, final selection and counseling are conducted by ICAR based on merit.
  3. For the Ph.D. programme, the merit list is prepared according to written examination marks, followed by tie-breaking based on MVSc marks, BVSc marks, and age.
  4. Selected candidates are admitted to the programme and become eligible for the IVRI Scholarship.
