- Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak – For most conspicuous bravery involving extreme risk to life
- Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak – For bravery and promptness in serious risk situations
- Jeevan Raksha Padak – For courage and promptness in life-saving acts involving injury risk
Tangible Benefits
- Medal (As Per Category) – A distinguished medal is awarded based on the level of bravery demonstrated.
- Certificate of Recognition – An official certificate acknowledging the act of gallantry is provided.
- Financial Allowance (As Per Government Norms) – A monetary allowance is granted as per rules prescribed by the government of india.
- National-Level Recognition – The awardee receives nationwide recognition for their courageous act.
- Posthumous Award Provision – The award can also be conferred posthumously to honor deceased rescuers.
Mode of Disbursement
- The medal and certificate are presented physically during the official award ceremony.

How to Apply
Step 01: Visit the National Awards Portal: https://www.awards.gov.in
Step 02: Register/Login using official credentials of the recommending authority
Step 03: Fill in the nomination form with complete details
Step 04: Upload required documents, including citation and verification certificate
Step 05: Ensure accurate entry of nominee details (including Hindi name) and submit the application online before the deadline.
Step 06: Applications are evaluated by a high-level committee and final approval is given by the President of India
NOTE:- The applicant should not be nominated after 2 years from the date of the act
- The applicant cannot apply directly (self-nomination not allowed)
- No offline/email applications are accepted
