The scheme “Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls’ Hostel” is an initiative under the Samagra Shiksha Programme, implemented by the Secondary Education Department, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to encourage girls’ participation in education at the upper primary and secondary levels and to provide quality education to girls from disadvantaged groups studying in Classes 6 to 12.

Benefits

Girls from various disadvantaged groups such as socially disadvantaged classes (Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Minorities, and Backward Classes), economically weaker sections, and girls with special needs are identified and enrolled in the hostels at the upper primary and secondary levels (Classes 6 to 12).

Eligibility

Required Documents

  • School leaving certificate / certificate of never having attended school / affidavit / declaration.
  • BPL certificate / ration card.
  • Income certificate / caste certificate.
  • Certificate stating that the distance between the school and the residence is more than 3 km.
