About This Scheme

The Mizoram Grant-in-Aid to Voluntary Organizations and Individuals Rules, 2018 is implemented by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Mizoram. The scheme is designed to strengthen social welfare initiatives by extending financial assistance to eligible voluntary organizations, institutions, and individuals engaged in welfare activities. The scheme supports a wide range of welfare services, including care, protection, rehabilitation, skill development, health support, and awareness programmes for vulnerable groups such as women in distress, children, persons with disabilities, elderly citizens, drug users, and other socially disadvantaged individuals. Financial assistance is provided for both recurring and non-recurring expenditures, including project implementation, infrastructure, equipment, and service delivery. The scheme encourages participation of NGOs and community-based organizations (CBOs) to supplement government efforts in addressing socio-economic challenges. Grants are provided based on project merit, subject to conditions, and typically cover up to 75% of the project cost, with the remaining contribution borne by the organization. The scheme also supports research and publications related to social welfare issues.
