Launched in 2015-16, the scheme "Mukhyamantri Nidan Yojana" (also known as "Free Laboratory Testing Scheme") by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat, aims to provide quality diagnostic facilities without charge at all government health institutions and ensure timely and accurate diagnosis of diseases like malaria, tuberculosis, cancer, diabetes, hypertension to reduce morbidity and mortality in communities. The scheme is implemented through a three-tier healthcare structure consisting of Sub Health Centers, Primary Health Centers, Community Health Centers, Sub-District Hospitals, District Hospitals and Medical Colleges with a total budget allocation of ₹200.94 crores, and applications are accepted offline at respective government healthcare facilities.
