About This Scheme

The scheme "Pre-Matric Scholarship For Scheduled Tribe Students Studying In Classes 9th & 10th" is implemented by the "Department of Tribal Affairs (Plain)", Government of Assam. The scheme aims to support Scheduled Tribe children studying in classes 9th and 10th so that the incidence of drop-out is minimized, and they have a better chance of progressing to the post-matric stage of education. The scheme provides a monthly scholarship of up to ₹525/-, an annual book grant of up to ₹1,000/-, and an additional disability allowance of up to ₹9,600/- annually via Direct Benefit Transfer. The applicant must belong to a Scheduled Tribe, study in class 9th or 10th in a recognized school, and have a total family income not exceeding ₹2,50,000/- per annum.

Benefits

Scholarship for 10 Months

₹225 · annual

Day Scholars receive a scholarship of ₹225/- monthly (₹2,250/- annually).

₹525 · annual

Hostelers receive ₹525/- monthly (₹5,250/- annually).

Books and Ad Hoc Grant

₹750

Day Scholars receive a lump sum grant of ₹750/-, and Hostelers receive a grant of ₹1,000/-.

Additional Disability Allowance

Divyangjan students, leprosy-cured students, and students having sickle cell anemia or Thalassemia receive an additional grant paid for all twelve months.

Hosteler students receive ₹800/- monthly (₹9,600/- annually), and Day Scholars receive ₹600/- monthly (₹7,200/- annually).

Disbursement Mode

Benefits are distributed directly to the student's bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), preferably using the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System.

Conditions

The award once made will continue, subject to good conduct and regularity in attendance.

The scholarship will be renewed for Class X after the student successfully passes Class IX.

If a student has to repeat a class, they will not receive the scholarship for the same class twice.
