About This Scheme

The "Scheme for Upgradation of Gaushala/ Panjrapole" launched by the Department of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare & Co-operation, Government of Gujarat, is designed to preserve and promote indigenous breeds of cows in Gujarat, such as Gir and Kankrej, which hold spiritual, scientific, and health value. Objective: The world famous Gir and Kankarej cows of Gujarat state and other indigenous breeds have great importance in terms of spiritual, scientific and health. To preserve these is the main aim by increase the breeding of cows by encouraging gaushalas and panjarapol institutions that ideally keep cows. The scheme also aims to increase the consumption of Panchagavya products of Gir and Kankrej cows and make rearing of cows economically viable.
