About This Scheme

The scheme “Vidhyadeep Yojana” was launched by the Education Department, Government of Gujarat. The scheme aims to provide insurance cover to students studying in primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools in the State. The scheme provides maximum financial assistance up to ₹50,000/- per student in case of accidental death or permanent total disability. The scheme is implemented by the State Insurance Fund (Directorate of Insurance) or private/public sector general insurance companies. The applications for this scheme are accepted by the Office of the District Primary Education Officer / District Education Officer / Administrative Officer (through the Principal of the school concerned).

> Conditions

The incident must be unexpected, sudden, and unintentional, and show visible signs of external violence.

The claim application must be submitted to the Nodal Officer within ninety (90) days from the date of the accident or death.

The benefit amount must not be paid for more than one category if the beneficiary is covered under multiple categories of the overall scheme.

  • Certificate From the Principal of the School Stating That the Student Is Studying In the Specific Class/Standard.
  • Original Certified Copy of the School Leaving Certificate, Where the Date of Leaving Must Be On Or After the Date of Death Or Injury.
  • Certified Copy of the Identity Card (If Provided).
  • Proof of Identity of the Applicant.
  • Proof of Identity of the Deceased.
  • Certified Copy of the First Information Report (FIR).
  • Certified Copy of the Police Panchnama And Inquest Panchnama.
  • Accidental Death Register.
  • Certified Copy of the Death Certificate.
  • Certified Copy of the Ration Card.
  • Heirship Certificate (Pedhinamu) As Per Instruction Number 9.
  • Indemnity Bond As Per Annexure (Revised).
  • Advance Receipt of Money As Per Annexure-3 (With Revenue Stamp).
  • Passport Size Photograph.
  • Bank Passbook / Cancelled Cheque.
  • Details And Documents Related To Hospital Treatment After the Accident, Such As Discharge Summary.
  • Birth Certificate (Or Election Identity Card, only if the deceased/injured is illiterate and the Birth Certificate is unavailable).
  • Certified Copy of the Charge Sheet / Detailed Report Under Section 173 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC).
  • Dying Declaration.
  • Certified Copy of the Final Police Investigation Report Presented To the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) With the SDM's Order.
  • Certified Copy of the Postmortem Report.
  • Certified Copy of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Report (If Applicable, where chemical analysis of organs was sent).
  • Certificate From the Doctor Who Performed the Postmortem Stating the Cause of Death.
  • Final Assessment Certificate From the Medical Board / Civil Surgeon.
  • Postcard Size Photograph Showing Disability.
  • Documents For Exceptional Cases:
  • Collector's Accident Death Certificate (Where Postmortem Was Not Done In Extraordinary Circumstances, Police Papers Are Mandatory).
