Welfare Services for Women

The "Welfare Services for Women" component under the Mizoram Grant-in-Aid framework implemented by the Social Welfare Department, Mizoram, is designed to address the needs of vulnerable women facing social, economic, and psychological challenges. The scheme supports voluntary organizations in implementing programs that ensure safety, rehabilitation, and empowerment of women in difficult circumstances. Target beneficiaries include widows without support, women affected by domestic violence, survivors of trafficking and sexual crimes, women affected by disasters, HIV/AIDS-affected women, and women without any means of livelihood. The scheme provides financial assistance to organizations for establishing and running facilities such as working women hostels, short stay homes, training centres, and support services like legal aid, counseling, and helplines. It also promotes awareness, skill development, and income-generating activities to help women achieve self-reliance. Special focus is given to providing safe accommodation, healthcare, legal support, and vocational training, enabling women to reintegrate into society with dignity and independence.
