About This Scheme

The scheme Popular Tiatr Competition was launched by the Tiatr Academy under the Art, Culture and Museums Department, Government of Goa. The scheme aims to bring about all round development of Popular Tiatr by organizing annual competitions in different parts of Goa, preserving and promoting the traditional format of tiatr performances. The scheme provides cash prizes ranging from ₹2,000/- to ₹2,00,000/- for various categories including performance, direction, acting, singing, and technical aspects, along with mementos and certificates for winners. The applicant must have completed at least 5 performances including Kantaram during the period from 1st April 2018 to 31st December 2018 and must perform in specified auditoriums across Goa. The scheme is implemented by Tiatr Academy of Goa. The applications for this scheme are accepted offline through submission of application forms along with required documents.

  • Free DVD Copy: One copy of the performance recording will be provided to the applicant.
  • Video Recording: Expenditure on video recording will be borne by Tiatr Academy of Goa.

*Awards will be announced and distributed in a specially organized Award Distribution Ceremony.

*All prizes are one-time cash awards.

Eligibility

Note: You may be eligible based on the information shown. Please verify the official eligibility requirements before applying.

    The applicant must have completed at least 5 performances including Kantaram during the period from 1st April to 31st December.

    The applicant must perform in specified auditoriums including Ravindra Bhavan Margao, Gomant Vidya Niketan Margao, Hanuman Natyagraha Mapusa, Kala Academy Panjim, Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir Ponda, Ravindra Bhavan Vasco, Ravindra Bhavan Sanquelim, or Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem.

    The applicant must present popular tiatrs having traditional format of the tiatr.

    The applicant must maintain the traditional format strictly as specified.

  • •

    The applicant must communicate the date, time and place of staging of the tiatr in the competition to the organizers at least 15 days in advance from the date of performance.

    The applicant must arrange for 6 passes for the Judges and the Organizers at the performance of the Competition show.

  • •

    The applicant must ensure live music with a band consisting of at least 5 instruments which shall include drums, keyboard, bass, guitar and 2 blowing instruments.

    (Optional) The applicant may include child artists up to 12 years of age for special awards in singing and acting.

    The tiatr must be strictly presented as per the given traditional format wherever it is staged.

    If the format is not maintained, the tiatr will not be eligible for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize, however individual prizes will be given for deserving artists.

    The decision to award or not to award the prizes shall depend entirely on the recommendations of the panel of judges.

  • •

    Political songs should be performed without exceeding the limits of freedom of expression, and criticizing individuals by taking name or displaying images or character assassination will not be allowed.

How to Apply

IIn-person

Applications will be invited by releasing press notes and advertisements in the local dailies. Applicants should regularly monitor these announcements for application opening dates.

Step 1: The interested applicant should take a printout of the prescribed format of the application form.

Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required). Sign the application form and mention the date.

Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to -

*Applicants are advised to save a copy of the submitted application form and any acknowledgment.

Post-Application Processes

Step 1: Await Scheduling Communication

After successful submission, wait for communication from organizers regarding the date, time and venue allocation for the competition performance. The judgment will be conducted from 5th January 2019 to 5th February 2019 at respective auditoriums.

Step 2: Confirm Performance Schedule

Once the performance schedule is communicated, confirm participation and ensure all logistical arrangements including arranging 6 passes for judges and organizers at the performance venue.

Step 3: Stage the Performance

Present the tiatr performance strictly as per the traditional format at the assigned auditorium during the competition period. Ensure compliance with all technical requirements including live music band with minimum 5 specified instruments.

*The judgment will be conducted in January-February at respective auditoriums.

*The decision of the panel of judges will be final and binding, and no correspondence regarding results will be entertained.
